                The head of each investigating agency in India is always an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer. Each state and union-territory of India has a state police force for investigation of cases, headed by Commissioner of Police or Director General of Police and controlled by Chief-minister of the state or Home- minister of the state.

                     The central investigating agencies are responsible for investigation in India which are directly under the ministry of Home-affairs which is a national level organisation concerned with law enforcement.
